Description
If I go to System | Preferences | Monitors and try to save a monitor configuration, after authenticating to the local superuser account, I get the error message "Could not set the default configuration for monitors" with an error about writing to /mit/geofft/.config/monitors.xml in my .xsession-errors. I bet this means it is trying to write to that file as root, which doesn't have my tokens.
This is different from #981, I believe. This is also different from LP:646076.

If I do the same from a local account, it works fine.
