Description
Hi.
I have just installed debathena on an Ubuntu 64 bit machine using the install script. When I try to run certain apps (e.g. sas, stata, which I get thru add sas, or add stata), I get the following error message:
/afs/athena/system/slw/unwrap: error while loading shared libraries: libhesiod.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
I have read some things about /etc/hesiod.conf getting overwritten when installing debathena (which I did using the install script) but I'm unsure what to do at this point. Any help will be greatly appreciated, as being able to run this on my research machine will be of great help to my ph.d. research.
Cheers

I just heard back from ops that they've setup unwrap for 64-bit machines.
This should allow people on 64-bit machines to, if nothing else, get further in the startup process for sas, stata, and other software using the unwrap protection.
David, can you let us know if sas and stata work for you on your 64-bit machine now?

Hi,
I've just tried it and stata and sas now launch properly in debathena in X11 mode.
I can't test them extensively today but I see no reason for further issues.
Thank you so much!
Cheers
David
The issue here is not with hesiod.conf, but with the fact that you're using a 64-bit machine.
It looks like a program those lockers use is simply not compatible with 64-bit machines. We're contacting the group within IS&T that maintains those lockers, and will let you know if and when there is a fix deployed.
