Firefox 3 against AFS homedirs has bad performance

Description

We should figure out if there's anything we can do about this.

In particular, we may want to consider setting toolkit.storage.synchronous to 0 in the Firefox plugin. See also  discuss:3771

I tried setting toolkit.storage.synchronous on my work Firefox profile because it kept hanging. It doesn't seem to have made a difference - Firefox is still hanging. However, we're using NFS homedirs, not AFS; I don't know how much that matters. So this is something of a non-datapoint :).

Other people who are having Firefox speed problems over AFS should still test this!

I've never observed this to be a problem, and in spite of repeatedly requesting that people who /do/ think this is a problem step up and test, nobody's volunteered.
