We have a patch (originally r14162) from ten years ago to handle the case of close() failing, which prevents you from losing your mail if you inc close to quota. We should get it upstream sometime within the next ten years.

Change History

Since the method of pursuing upstream patches is still unclear to me, should we:

a) pursue this through Debian
b) pursue this through Ubuntu
c) pursue this through actual upstream ( http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/nmh/)
d) some combination or re-ordering of the above

My instinct would be (c), send it to the project itself, because it's a reasonably environment-agnostic patch and upstream doesn't look dead.

There is an outstanding patch in their bug tracker that appears to be a subset of ours:

  • Milestone changed from Summer 2010 (Lucid Deploy) to IAP 2011

  • Milestone changed from Natty Alpha to Fall 2011

  • Milestone changed from Precise Beta to The Distant Future

  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Resolution set to fixed

This was fixed upstream in nmh-1.5, which is in wheezy and quantal. "Yay".
