two quota warnings, one saying that you're out of quota

Description

Presumably if you have more than 99.5% quota, you get two quota warning messages, one that (rounded up) your quota is full and the login session will not work, and another that your quota is almost full.

Besides this being a blatant example of "Don't do that.", the xsession script checks if the number in the third column of "fs lq" is >= 100. If you want want more precision in that number, that's an AFS bug.

I could be convinced that I should actually compare the number of kilobytes used vs the quota, but the amount of crap GNOME wants to dump in your homedir will only increase, so I don't want to decide that, e.g. 10K is the magic number and have that change.

r25384.

Two quota warnings is not wrong if you managed to use up >= 99.51% of your quota. Fix it, and you won't have to see two warnings.

Discussion on zephyr suggested there should be a better way to do this. However, quotawarn can be skipped via a variable in ~/.environment, and we can't honor that this early in the session. Now, we can decide that:

  • you shouldn't be able to skip a quota warning (I'm fine with that), and merely do all quota warnings at this point.
  • we should pick a number at which to warn (within 1MB? 2MB?) and hope that GNOME doesn't want to spew that much to your homedir in the future
  • set a variable indicating we've warned once here and don't warn in quotawarn
  • we don't care.

I don't know how many other people use the feature, but I believe I was the one who requested the skip_quotawarn feature, because I didn't want to repeatedly get the 10% warning while I still had several hundred megabytes free. I would be fine with getting warned when there's very little quota left. That being said, I also have the line commented out right now, since I am not within 10% of my quota.
