come up with coherent plan for GUI mail clients

Evolution is clearly unloved by anyone. Thunderbird would be the obvious choice, but it has its own problems, such as transitioning to "Community Maintained" state, whatever that means. Are there other GUI clients? Should we even be encouraging them? OWA 2010 now does everything I want in a mail client, and does it better than most GUI clients. And all the incoming students seem to be fine with a web browser being their primary e-mail client (Gmail).

Note that I am not suggesting we stop configuring Evolution, but rather that we stop encouraging it.
